ENGLISH BOARDING SCHOOLS

A Simple Solution offers 2 educational/school based programmes where overseas students learn English at UK Schools where they learn/continue to develop English as a Second Language at one of our Summer Schools in England

Summer Schools in England/Summer Schools in UK - Programme 1 (11-16 year old pupils)

Summer Schools in England/Summer Schools in UK - Programme 2 (16-18 year old students)

A Simple Solution is a small well established company working exclusively with Madrid based AUNE on our 'Summer Schools in UK' programmes where overseas students have the opportunity to learn English at UK Schools for a period of 3 weeks at the end of the UK summer term. Overseas pupils have total language immersion in the English Language and culture as they play a full and active role in life at one of our boarding schools. This opportunity to learn English as a second language is unique and one of our most popular programmes.

We offer two 'Summer Schools in UK' programmes for overseas students aged 11-18 years. Both programmes are educationally based with overseas students living in the safety and security of an English Boarding School as they follow a full national curriculum to help them learn English at UK Schools.

A Simple Solution

A Simple Solution - Summer Schools in England

Our English Summer schools are all located in English Boarding Schools in England giving overseas pupils a unique opportunity to learn English at UK Schools all of which have official OFSTED status as 'a Specialist School' in disciplines as diverse as Technology, Languages, Maths and Sport. Overseas pupils board at our English Boarding Schools for the final 3 weeks of the UK summer term and are known at the school as 'short term boarders'. Short term boarders experience full English immersion into UK National Curriculum and the routines of the Boading Schools. Our Summer Schools in UK programme is unlike any other summer programme for overseas students. The programme is designed to ensure overseas students can develop their English Language skills to the full as they develop their ability to speak English as a second language in the security and safety of an English Boarding School..

The programmes are organised by A Simple Solution, Madrid based AUNE and the English Boarding Schoolswe work with. The programmes are for overseas pupils/students aged 11 - 18 years. We place between 5 and 14 overseas students in each school (depending upon the size of the school) and no more than two overseas students per class. To ensure that short term boarders have the maximum opportunity to develop their English Language skills and learn English as a second language they are allocated an English 'buddy' on their first day at school.

These programmse have been running successfully for approximately 12 years and have grown significantly during this time. They are very efficient at promoting language development in young overseas students.

From the moment they arrive at one of our Summer Schools overseas students experience 'full English immersion' into the English Language and English culture at the English schools and boarding houses where they will live for 3 weeks.

Programme 1 is open to all overseas pupils aged 11-16 years who wish to come to England for the final 3 weeks of the English summer term. Overseas pupils are quickly intergrated into the boarding house and school and will quickly learn to participate in the rules and regulations of the boarding house and take a full and active role in all its evening leisure activities, study periods and weekend socialising. They will follow a full national curriculum timetable at the school and make friends with full time pupils. All this will help them achieve a significant and lasting improvement in their English Language development. Their English speaking skills along with their listening skills make noticeable improvement within 3-4 days of their arrival.

On their first day at the school they are given a short induction where they are shown around the school and allocated an English 'buddy' who will be a full time UK pupil at the school. The daily routine of the school will be explained to them to enable them to settle quickly into school life. They will be placed in a class with English pupils of a similar age to their own and will be given a notebook to use for the duration of their stay.

Our English Summer Schools - Programme 2 is open to overseas students aged 16-18 years who would like to enjoy a more mature summer experience at an English Summer School. The programme offers overseas students the opportunity to study an 'AS Taster Course' at a UK boarding school. The course encourages full immersion into the English Language and English culture via an English 6th form curriculum and life within the boarding house. It gives UK and overseas students the opportunity to take part in and reflect upon the cultural differences of different countries. It is a unique summer experience for older students. Older students are given a degree of freedom not given to younger pupils to reflect their more mature outlook and interests.

AS Taster Course Details

A number of UK schools offer a 3 week course at the end of the summer term to pupils leaving Secondary School and moving into 6th Form. Students who take part in the AS Taster Course choose 3 or 4 subjects to study for 3 weeks. These can be traditional subjects such as Science, Maths, English or they can be subjects the student has never studied before such as Psychology, Sociology or Philosophy.

The course is 'student lead' which means the student takes on full responsibility for his or her own learning and is designed as an introduction to a completely different way of studying at learning that takes place in 6th forms thorughout the country.

Boarding School Details

The boarding schools offer more flexibility for overseas students aged 16-18 years of age than younger overseas pupils on Programme 1. More mature students can organise some of their own leisure time and develop their English Language skills through different learning experiences. They still learn English at UK Schools by followinging a full AS level curriculum but they have the opportunity to interact socially on a more informal level.

Evening leisure time and bed times are significantly more flexible. There will be some weekend trips organised but students on this programme will be free to choose how they spend some of their leisure time, ie kicking a ball around in the grounds of the boarding house, going bowling, swimming, walking or taking part in the boarding house activities.
